I’m Ryan and originally from Wichita, KS. I got into martial arts at the age of 13 and moved to Japan as an exchange student when I was 20 years old to go down the rabbit hole in my martial practice. I ended up staying there for almost 30 years. During that time I did a lot of training (black belts in Kendo, Iaido, Judo, Shorinji Kempo, and currently a brown belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jutsu), met an awesome Japanese girl and we got married, had some kids, and I even started a company. In October of 2022, my family and I moved to Kansas so that my two children could attend school and learn English. Although I’m from the US, I’m pretty sure my Japanese is better than my English so I apologize in advance for the bad grammar.
I’m Alex and originally from Wichita, KS. I’ve been a Personal Trainer for over 20 years but a martial artist for nearly all of my 37 years. I started studying Taekwondo and Karate at the age of 5 and devoted the majority of my youth to training in both arts. I later became fascinated with movement including fencing where I was invited to fence for the University of Tennessee Knoxville while still in high school. Upon graduating, I moved back to Kansas to study Shaolin Kung Fu (Wu Shu and the style of my Kung Fu teacher’s family), as well as Hung Gar, Wing Chun, Indonesian Sitat, Kali/Escrima, boxing, Muay Thai, Chin Na, Shuai Jiao and various weapons.
Here’s Alex and I in 20 years. He still looks great. 😁
